Remembering Sweet Baby Lexi

LEXI
12/2/2007 - 10/5/2021

We said goodbye to our sweet, silly Lexi Lou today.

Just like I did with Zoe, what I really want to do here is just create a space to post favorite photos and fond memories of her that I never want to forget. A place I can return to when I'm thinking about and missing her.  Again, I suspect this post will be fluid, with me returning to add things periodically.

For now, I just want to share a few photos of Lexi that never made it to the blog.  Again, these were taken at the same time as the ones I posted of Zoe.

Lexi, in our yard back in Indiana 10/23/2010:
Lexi, Rest in Peace, sweet baby girl. I am so thankful for the almost fourteen years I got to share with you, but it still wasn’t anywhere near long enough. A piece of my heart will always belong to you, my sweet girl. Your mama loves you, now and forever. I have no words for just how how much you will missed, Sweet Lexi Lou.

I can’t believe that both of my girls are gone. I didn’t realize just how much Lexi’s presence was somehow keeping Zoe here for me, too. Losing her feels crushing because it was the last link I had to the life I shared with them. Zoe made me a Dog Mama after waiting years for the right time to adopt one, and Lexi was the missing piece to complete our little family.

The two of them shared such a special bond. They spent almost their entire lives together: Lexi came home on 2/8/08 and we lost Zoe on 3/5/21 - more than 13 years as sisters! It was just the two of them for almost 10 years. Watching them grow up together and spend their lives side by side was so special. Wherever they are, I hope they are having a ton of fun and raising a little hell together again! Your Mama loves you and misses you, baby girls!

Remembering Sweet Baby Zoe

ZOE
9/11/2007 - 3/5/2021

We said goodbye to our sweet baby Zoe today.

Instead of posting about how heartbroken I am at the loss of my sweet, gentle girl, what I really want is to just create a space to post favorite photos and fond memories of her that I never want to forget. A place I can return to when I'm thinking about and missing my girl. I suspect this post will be fluid, with me returning to add things periodically.

For now, I just want to share a few photos of Zoe that never made it to the blog.  These were taken years ago, not too long after I began my foray into photography.  At the time I had a personal blog and I had started a personal photography blog as a spin off.  Once I decided I wanted to create a business, I started this blog but never transferred over any of the early photos.

Zoe, in our yard back in Indiana 10/23/2010:
Zoe, Rest in Peace, Sweet Girl! Thirteen and a half years wasn’t nearly long enough with you. You will always hold a very special piece of my heart, baby girl. Your mama loves you, and I always will. There are no words for how much you will be missed, ZoZo.

Sweet Lexi Lou

I wanted to share a handful of photos of Lexi that I took recently.  Lexi is just the happiest, sweetest girl in the world.  Just seeing her cute face brings a smile to mine!

Do I see treats?...
I think I should have some!...
Ahhh! Nothing like a good roll in the dirt...
Adorablness...
Just chillin'...
Lot's of good sniffs around here...
Maybe a nap...
Love my sweet girl, dirty face and all! ...
As always, thanks for stopping by the blog.

Run, Ivy, Run

As I mentioned, Ivy is a tough dog to photograph!  Not only is she afraid of the camera in general, but her mostly black face gives the camera focusing fits.

After several attempts, I managed to capture a few images of her while running across the yard towards me. Normally when I pull out the camera her ears droop and she won't look at me, so I love seeing how happy she looks in these!
Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Christmas!

I decided to put that Christmas background to use again for some family photos!  I set everything up, put the camera on a tripod, and enlisted the help of my parents to get the dogs' attention and push the shutter button.  I couldn't decided which photo I liked best, so I opted to just post all of my favorites:
From our famliy to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS! And a very Happy New Year! Here's to hoping 2021 is better than 2020.

The Underbite Crew

Lately I have been coming to terms with the sad reality that this will probably be the last Christmas that Zoe and Lexi will be with us.  Both of them will be 14 years old next year and they each have a lot of health issues.  I really wanted to get some photos of all four of the dogs together while I still have the chance.  So, I purchased a Christmas photography background to use for some portraits of them.

I admit that I went a little overboard taking a TON of photos of my fur babies, so it was really tough to narrow them down to a reasonable number to post.  It probably took me more time to whittle them down than it would have to just edit them all but something tells me that everyone but me would have been bored to tears looking at hundreds (Yes, Hundreds!) of photos of them.

So instead....

Here are a few of my favorites of Lexi:
Zoe:
Olive:
And Ivy: (As I've mentioned before, Ivy is so challenging to photograph!! The camera comes out and she looks like she's terrified. I assure you she is just as loved and spoiled as the other three, even if she looks tragic in all of her photos.)
I thought this one was cute of Olive, Lexi, and Ivy...
And a couple of all four of them...
All of our dogs have underbites. So, we call them our Underbite Crew! We joke that it is a requirement to live in our house, and any future dogs will need to have one before they can be adopted.

Happy 13th Birthday, Lexi Lou!

I remember the day that I brought Lexi home like it was yesterday and now she is turning THIRTEEN!  I have no idea how time has flown by so quickly.

Zoe and Lexi have always shared such a special bond and have been the best of friends over the years. Opening gift bags has been a HUGE source of joy for them. They have so much fun tearing into them and I know that this is quite possibly the last birthday that they are going to get to do this together.  So, I decided to allow them the opportunity to open Lexi's bags together, just the two of them, like it was for so many years before Ivy and Olive were adopted.

Poised and ready for the first present...

Hmmm, what's in here?...
Tearing up the bags and paper is Zoe's favorite part!...
OK, done with that one! What's next?...
Oh Yay! Another one...
She cracks me up!...
FINALLY! The best part! Treats!...
If you made it this far, thank you for indulging me by sharing in some photos of my sweet pups!
